The Data Privacy Act of 2012, also known as Republic Act No. 10173, is the Philippines' primary privacy law. It is administered by the National Privacy Commission and governs how personal data is collected, processed, and stored in both public and private sectors while protecting each individual's right to privacy and supporting the lawful flow of information.
By using Project BIG-ES, you acknowledge and consent that the system may collect personal information such as your name, contact details, address, birthday, resident category, proof of identity, proof of residency, service request details, payment-related records, and other information necessary for account verification, barangay service processing, document requests, announcements, audit logging, and system reporting.
Project BIG-ES will not sell, misuse, or disclose your personal information to unauthorized persons. Your data may only be accessed by authorized barangay personnel, system administrators, or other authorized users when necessary for official barangay operations, legal compliance, system maintenance, or security purposes.
The system applies reasonable security measures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. However, users are also responsible for keeping their account credentials confidential and for ensuring that the information they provide is accurate and updated.
Your personal information will be retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill the stated purposes, comply with legal requirements, maintain official barangay records, resolve disputes, and support legitimate system operations. When no longer needed, data may be securely archived, anonymized, or deleted in accordance with applicable policies.
As a data subject, you have the right to be informed, access your personal data, request correction of inaccurate information, object to unauthorized processing, request deletion or blocking when applicable, and exercise other rights provided under the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
